MARKETING INTERN

Reports to: Marketing & Communications Specialist

HOURS: Approx. 8 hours per week, Fall semester

Overview

The Weill Center has an exciting opportunity to join its team as a Marketing Intern. This hands-on role supports the promotion of performances and events through social media, email marketing, grassroots outreach, and on-site initiatives. Working closely with the Marketing & Communications Specialist, you will gain experience in marketing and outreach by assisting with event promotion, content creation, community engagement, and behind-the-scenes marketing operations. This position offers the opportunity to develop creative, communication, and organizational skills while exploring career pathways in live events marketing, promotion, and nonprofit communications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the promotion of performances and events through social media, print distribution, and community-based marketing efforts
  • Support organic social media content across organization’s platforms, including contribution to TikTok strategy and content creation
  • Brainstorm and help implement creative, trend-based marketing campaigns
  • Assist with weekly email communications and promotional messaging
  • Help manage event listings and internal promotions
  • Support grassroots and street team marketing efforts, including flyer distribution, community events, and ticket giveaways
  • Assist with on-site event preparation
  • Participate in marketing meetings, webinars, and planning sessions
  • Gain hands on experience implementing marketing strategies under Marketing & Communications Specialist

Skills and Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or related field
  • Interest in arts, live music, theater, live entertainment, events, and nonprofit organizations
  • Must project a positive, professional, and polished image of the Weill Center at all times
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional time management skills, organized, detail-oriented
  • Must be flexible, adaptable and willing to take on new tasks as needed

Learning Outcomes

  • Gain hands-on experience executing integrated marketing campaigns for live events
  • Develop skills in content creation, including social media and email marketing
  • Learn industry standard event marketing strategies and audience engagement techniques
  • Strengthen professional communication, collaboration, and time management skills in a nonprofit arts environment
  • Understand how marketing supports ticket sales, community outreach, and audience retention
