Get Career Ready Using AI

Learn about AI and how it can help assist your job search!

Currently, the most prominent AI tool is ChatGPT.

AI (artificial intelligence) involves the development of intelligent machines that can perform tasks that typically require human intelligence. From its early beginnings in the 1950s to its current rapid advancements, AI has witnessed remarkable progress.

ChatGPT can assist people by providing quick and mostly accurate information on various subjects, helping with research, answering questions, and offering guidance. ChatGPT’s conversational abilities make it a valuable tool for learning, problem-solving, and engaging in meaningful discussions. (Revised from ChatGPT)

The Wake Forest University Career Team wants to equip you with the knowledge and insights to harness AI strategically while being mindful of its implications and vulnerabilities. We want you to embrace AI’s power responsibly, enabling you to thrive in a rapidly evolving landscape.

Careful Considerations

  • Original Thought: It’s important to remember that AI is not a human response. If you ask it to help you with something, it could give you the same exact response it gives another person. Your personal branding materials need to be highly personalized to you. We never recommend copying and pasting content without editing it and personalizing it.
Did you know some employers are integrating AI detectors into their processes?
  • Inaccuracies: ChatGPT is using a database of user-generated content, all prior to 2021. Because of this, it cannot answer any questions that require recent knowledge and it can produce incorrect and possibly biased information. We strongly recommend you complete your own fact-checking process.
  • Privacy: Because AI tools save and use user-generated data to inform their models, be cautious about inputting any private or confidential information. (WFU article)
